Advent Calendar - FREE STUFF

Right .......
we've got 4 days to go and then it's the big countdown to Christmas!

I've been looking around the shops for a suitable advent calendar.

Cute teddy but I really don't like
calendars with advertising on them!

The chocolate ones smell nice, but I decided to save my pennies, design my own calendar and buy a tin of sweets instead!

So I knocked up a bit of foxy art work!

Think I might call her Diana after my foxy friend.

Then set about designing a calendar.

You can make one too ...... just click on the link and press print:

The document has 6 pages ...... so make sure you have enough paper in your printer!

Get all your equipment together.  You will need a needle and cotton, some card (cereal packet will do), sticky tape, scissors and either magnetic tape or a hole punch and a piece of ribbon.

Hmm ... need some sticky tape and scissors!

Cut out the calendar and stick it firmly on the piece of card.

Then put it under some heavy books to dry whilst you cut out the numbers.

Now you need to get your needle and make holes where the dots are on the foxy calendar.

Then, firmly hold the first number in place and stick the needle through the calendar again to get the holes in the right place.

Mind your fingers when you do this .....
needles can be blooming sharp!

Gather all your numbers together, and a few at a time, using number 1 as a guide, make holes in all the rest of them.

When you have done that, get a length of cotton and fold it double, then thread it on your needle and fold it again so you have 4 strands.  Tie a big knot in the end and starting from the back, thread it through your calendar like this.  You may have to thread one number at a time but it shouldn't take long.

Once you have all the numbers threaded pull the cotton really tight and fasten it at the back with some sticky tape.

If you want a hanging calendar you can punch a hole in the top and thread ribbon through it, but I decided to make mine in to a fridge magnet.

Rolls of magnetic tape like this cost about 99p from
a craft shop.  Just peel the backing paper off and
stick a couple of bits to your calendar top and bottom.

Job done ...... here's the finished calendar up on the fridge, all ready to go!

After all that hard work it's time to tuck in to those sweets!

Can't find any purple ones!
